Razz Poker Overview

Razz sometimes known as "Lowball Poker  is a variation of Seven Card Stud where the lowest hand wins.

Each player is dealt seven cards and can use any five of the seven cards dealt to make the best(lowest) hand. Players are dealt two cards face down, four cards face up and the final card face down. Since Aces are the lowest meaning strongest card, kings are the highest or "weakest" cards.

The lowest possible hand is 5-4-3-2-A known as the "wheel". Flushes and straights do not count and therefore 5s-4s-3s-2s-As will tie against 5c-4c-3d-2d-Ah.

The Razz odds calculator is used to calculate your odds for a given Razz scenario.
  • You'll be presented with a popup where you can select between 3 to 7 cards for example:
Player Card 1 Player Card 2 Player Card 3
  • After you have selected cards for at least two players, the app will calculate the odds upon closing the card selector screen.

Understanding the results

This Odds Calculator gives you the ability to view the following percentages with 2 to 6 players.
  • Win% Chance of winning the hand.
  • Tie% Chance of tying the hand.
  • EQ% indicates the "expected share" of the pot as a percentage(%).
  • over a player's hand indicates they currently have the highest equity percentage.
  • over a player's cards indicates they cannot possibly win given the current table state.

Equity calculation

Equity is calculated by adding the total number of wins to the sum of the fractions of each tie for the players' hand and dividing that amount by total number of possible outcomes.

Total Wins +
Sum(each tie / number of hands in each tie)
Divided by (/) Total Hands

  • Each outcome that is a tie increments the players' tie count by "1"
  • Each outcome that results in a tie increments the players equity count by one(1) / number of players that tie for that specific outcome. In this case there are only two players so the most players that could tie for given outcome is (1 / 2 players).
  • Since there are only two players in this example, the tie percentage will always be the same for each player. As more players are in the hand, equity may vary for each hand and the number of players that tie on any outcome may also vary.
