Seven Card Stud Overview
Seven Card Stud is a form of poker where each player is dealt 7 cards
and each player can use any five of the seven cards dealt to
make the best hand.
The player with the best hand wins the pot. If there is a tie then the pot is divided
among each player that qualified for the best hand.
This tool is used to calculate your odds for an
Seven Card Stud scenario.
- You'll be presented with a popup where you can select between 3 to 7 cards for example:
- After you have selected cards for at least two players, the app will calculate the odds
upon closing the card selector screen.
Understanding the results
This Odds Calculator gives you the ability to view the following percentages with 2 to 6 players.
- Win% Chance of winning the hand.
- Tie% Chance of tying the hand.
- EQ% indicates the "expected share" of the pot as a percentage(%).
-
over a player's hand indicates they currently have the highest equity percentage.
-
over a player's cards indicates they cannot possibly win given the current table state.
How is Equity Calculated?
Equity is calculated by adding the total number of wins to the sum of the
fractions of each tie for the players' hand and dividing that
amount by total number of possible outcomes.
Total Wins +
Sum(each tie / number of hands in each tie)
Divided by (/) Total Hands
- Each outcome that is a tie increments the players' tie count by "1"
- Each outcome that results in a tie increments the players equity count by
one(1) / number of players that tie for that specific outcome.
In this case there are only two players so the most players that could
tie for given outcome is (1 / 2 players).
-
Since there are only two players in this example, the tie percentage will always be the same for each player.
As more players are in the hand, equity may vary for each hand and the number of players that tie on any outcome may also vary.
